• Self-study. Course SS1000. U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services - Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Principles of epidemiology. 3rd edition. An introduction to applied epidemiology and biostatistics. (Lesson 4 deals specifically with displaying public health data, nevertheless the whole material is an essential reading for EPIET/FETP fellows.)
• Trufte ER. The visual display of quantitative information. 2nd ed. Graphics Press LLC, Connecticut, 2009 (The author was tellingly described by The New York Times as "the Leonardo da Vinci of data".)
